Meg Ross

Writer and Creative
She/Her

I am a recent graduate of English and Creative Writing with a passion for poetry and creating theatre. I am friendly, enthusiastic, and very hard working. I find learning new skills exciting and can pick them up quickly. I work well as an individual, but I also enjoy working as part of a team and the results that team working can create.  I am always eager to please and enjoy making customers, clients, or audiences happy.  I am computer literate, and throughout all my work experience I have gained an appreciation of effective communication being key to successful businesses and organisations. I am seeking a permanent career opportunity following university. I want to continue my development whilst being part of and contributing to a successful enterprise that shares my values of inclusion and meritocracy.  I am very open minded to the type of organization but see myself as a potential young leader / trainee manager, or in a position where I am able to engage creatively with my colleagues.

Autumn 2019

Writer/Facilitator - How Far? @ Midnight at The Boilerhouse

Studying as a joint honors student in English and Creative Writing has allowed me to develop my own work and as a result, I graduated my undergraduate studies having written three short collections of poetry. In November 2019 I successfully adapted one of my collections into a short piece of theatre which I also cast and co-facilitated. It was showcased as part of Royal Holloway Student Workshop’s ‘Midnight at The Boiler House’ event and received very positive reviews. The piece focused on the themes of the poems, asking the question how far is too far? How close is too close? The devising process led us to settle on a final piece that used fragments of the poems to create a mostly improvised performance.

Summer 2019

Photographer - Ideology and Hairgel

In summer 2019 I worked with Waspish Theatre Company, photographing the performances of their production Ideology and Hair gel, whilst it was previewing in London at The Bread and Roses Theatre in Clapham. The photographs were then used to market and promote the company and the production as it went on to be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival later in the summer.

June 2020 - Present

Marketing and Publicity Coordinator @ Ruckus Theatre Company

I am currently acting as Photographer, Social Media, Merchandise, and Website Coordinator for Ruckus Theatre Company. I joined the crew as they were working on their debut productions of Romeo & Juliet (to premier in Camden in December) and Wallace Shaun’s The Fever (showing in Egham in November). My roles involve photographing the rehearsal processes and the performances, and then editing and using those images for marketing. I am responsible for managing all of the company’s social media platforms which include Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. I also coordinated the design, production, ordering and distribution of merchandise for the company and their productions. A main part of my role is designing and updating the company website with all new and relevant information.

Winter 2020

Writer - How Far? @ Show Face Festival

In October 2020 I was lucky enough to be selected to write a piece of performance poetry for the Christmas edition of Show Face Festival, an online celebration of theatre and art. I chose to adapt my piece ‘How Far?’ from its original construction in 2019. I was thrilled to work with my creative team comprising of Christina Tsoutsi as director, Heather Milstead and Eleanor May Blackburn as performers, and Hannah Harding as designer. The show was a huge success and a wonderful opportunity to develop my work from improvised performance to scripted piece of theatre.
